Sloppy Joe's - But CLEAN??!!!...SO DELICIOUS!!

One of my favorite foods to eat, before making my lifestyle change to eat clean, was Sloppy Joe's. I have to admit, I was a little sad thinking I could no longer enjoy this meal, not only in the winter and fall months - but anytime! (that's how much I love sloppy joe's) So instead of immediately throwing up my hands, and giving in to temptations, I started doing some research on how I can still eat a meal I loved, but make it so it doest hurt my waist :)

I have learned, healthy food does not need to taste bad, or have no taste. It can be delicious, savory, and make your mouth water!

Here is a quick and easy recipe. I experimented a little, and changed up a recipe I had found, to fit our family.

Ingredients:
2 lbs ground turkey
1/4 tsp fresh black ground pepper to use while cooking the meat
1/2 tsp garlic powder to use while cooking the meat
1/2 tsp onion powder to use while cooking the meat
15oz tomato sauce {we used actual fresh tomato chopped} You can also use a can, NO SALT ADDED
1/2 c organic ketchup
1/2 tbs dijon mustard
1 tbs EVOO
1 tbs raw honey
1 tbs Worcestershire sauce
1 tbs red wine vinegar
1 tbs garlic powder
1 1/2 tbs onion powder
1/2 green bell pepper
1/2 red bell pepper

Swirl the EVOO in the pan, and add the meat, (over medium heat) black pepper, garlic and onion powder.

Drain the meat, and place into a larger pot. Add all the remaining ingredients and mix up very well. Let this simmer about 20-25 minutes, to make sure all of the flavorings soak into one another.

You can certainly serve this with some baked whole wheat w/ flaxseed tortilla chips, or in my case I served on top of 1 slice of whole wheat Ezekiel bread.

For baked chips, cut into triangles, spray lightly with olive oil, sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Bake at 350 for about 10 minutes

Toasted 1 slice, place sloppy joe on top

Hope you all enjoy!!
