The 21 Day Fix - My Personal Experience

My answer? It's the BEST health and fitness program in the world!!! Its has changed my life in so many ways, I have to pinch myself sometimes on how amazing I feel. I want to shout it from the roof tops - can you hear me yelling all about this program and how much I love it?? Why is everyone not doing this?? I do not even understand the hesitation. 

Well, that's not true. I do understand the hesitation. I was hesitant, skeptical, doubtful, scared, etc - not that long ago. March, 2014 to be exact. After many years of yo-yo dieting, trying this fad and that fad, loosing weight to gain it back, gaining even more back, allowing negative thoughts to control my food intake...I was so sure this would be another thing I would fail at.

Simple.  That is really an answer. It is simple. I needed simple. I am a busy wife and mother, working full time. Do I need equipment?

There are certain exercises that Autumn recommends equipment. However, you do not have to use any to get started. If you do not feel you are ready for weights or resistance bands, you can still perform the moves. When you feel stronger you can add them in. 1 set of light weights, and 1 set of heavy weights or resistance bands. Also a yoga mat, or a Beachbody Mini Mat are helpful, yet not required. 

What if I can not handle the workouts? Can I just use portion control? 

First of all, stop your negativity immediately. If you set yourself up to believe you can not do it, then you wont. Place yourself in a positive mindset and surround yourself with those that will lift you higher. Even being out of shape, these workouts are designed for all levels. When I started I was over 100 pounds over weight, with back issues, and knee problems. I followed the amazing modifier. And sometimes I even had to modify the modifications. But I stuck with it, I kept pushing forward. The key to this program is to keep moving, be better today than you were yesterday. Using portion control containers and system, along with the exercise program will give you the maximum results. You will see, by the end of week 2 you will feel stronger, and where you struggled on day 1, you will not be struggling any longer. 

Can I go out to eat and what do you mean I can eat chocolate and drink wine? 

Um hello? Are you listening to me :) This is NOT A DIET! This is a lifestyle modification. YOu are not going to do this for 21 days and then go back to what you were doing before. That would just be silly. Where you happy in how you looked and felt before? No....you were not - that is why you are taking this step. So why go back to what you did before to make you unhappy? You are going to be learning the 80/20 rule. 80% of the time, you eat clean foods. Clean - non processed, non GMO, non junk. 20% of the time - you can, chocolate, wine, piece of cake, or cookie. In life, we love to socialize. This sometimes means going out to eat and having a few drinks. Once you feel comfortable, learning about portion control, you will be able to eyeball your portions and know exactly what to cut back on when you are out. And the plan includes a restaurant guide! 

What kind of workouts are there? 

21 Day Fix takes all of the guesswork out of working out. You will know exactly which workout to do each day. This was crucial for me. I needed to know exactly what to do. If it was up to me, I would have taken the easy road - especially in the beginning. I became confident that I was working my whole body efficiently in just 30 minutes a day. I know because every muscle (even ones I didn't know I had where telling me) The workouts are designed to give consistent calorie-burning results, unlike a treadmill workout or just guessing and doing it on your own, that can have very inconsistent and inaccurate calorie counts. The 30-minute boot-camp style workouts keep your heart rate up throughout, so you have an effective and efficient workout that burns maximum calories.
