Support, Accountability, Motivation and Fitness: New Year, Healthier New You

I can't believe that Christmas is over already and New Years is days away! Where did the time go! 2014 literally flew by in the blink of an eye. I am currently half way through month 1 of Insanity Max 30! I absolutely love the program! Who knew? I didnt think I would love something as much the 21 Day Fix, but I do! Amazing meal plan, perfectly laid out fitness plan - its fool proof! But all that is for another post....

Today I want to let you all know I'm about to launch my FANTABULOUS NEW YEARS CHALLENGE GROUP!!!! I have been over here brainstorming new ways to provide support and accountability to my customers! I'm working on a brand new series of Monday Mindset Videos, of daily tips, recipes, motivation and accountability for you!

I am going to kick off a brand new group on Monday January 5th 2015!!!!!

As I am sitting here thinking about this group and the new year I am so excited for the influx of people who planning on joining my January challenge group. It reminds me of those pictures of the gym in January! The gym is ridiculously packed for the first few weeks of the month and then by February 1st its back to the same as it was the rest of the year! WHY IS THAT???? Well everyone gets on their horse and wants to make a change in the new year, they flood the gym, they fill up the classes and they are all gun ho about their fitness.

But why do they fail? Well if I think back to myself several years ago, I was one of those January Gym Goers! I would start out strong, with the best of intentions, but then I wouldn't know what I was doing, I would workout and then go home and eat my little heart out. I didn't get the concept of clean eating, no one was there help me except these gynormous buff men who intimated me and I wouldnt dare speak to them...and then when I worked out for 1 week and didn't see results I got frustrated and did a little emotional eating to calm my frustrations! What eating an entire cake isnt the answer? I am not going work that off walking aimlessly around the gym? Or while I drive to the gym and pretend to go inside? I was literally undoing everything I had done in the gym. I didnt have money for a personal trainer, and again they were all so pretty and buff I just knew they were going to talk about my jiggles.

So, like most people, I threw in the towel and went back to my old ways swearing that I was meant to be out of shape forever and that my body was genetically predisposed to having a spare tire around my waste!

In reality, I didn't know that it takes longer than 2 weeks to get your goal body. I didn't realize that 80% of my results came from my nutrition and the difference between low fat, fat free, non processed foods, good carb or bad carb - and no idea which way to go!

So, when I finally decided to reach out to a high school friend, and was invited to join a challenge group I was at my wits end and I had no where else to turn. I am one of the most skeptical people out there, and even though I was seeing people I knew get results, I just knew this wasnt going to work for me. I accepted because I was desperate to prove I was a lost case, and this wasnt going to work, and I was right to doubt this process! I still believed the only way to get results was by going to the gym, starving yourself, eating rabbit food and having a personal trainer.

What I learned after 30 days of a challenge group, the 21 Day Fix, Shakeology and clean eating is this:

1. I am not perfect, I will never be perfect, and I need to accept that. What I am is stronger than I thought, and bravier than I ever believed.

2. 80% of your results come from your nutrition. You can cardio yourself to death and see no change if you continue to have poor eating habits.

3. SUPPORT is what made me succeed! Having a community of support to check in daily with is what was the magic or secret sauce for me. At any given time I could make a post in the closed group regarding my daily struggles and someone would give me either a tip, suggestion, lift me up or love on me so that I didn't quit. I felt a sense of peace knowing that I wasn't the only one struggling during certain weeks. I wasn't the only one that didn't feel their body wasn't changing fast enough, it was nice to know that my food cravings and my daily struggles were normal!!! I was not alone! We were all in this together. I made some great friends through my challenge group and over time my mindset changed, my body changed and I finally was becoming a success story!

4. I need a system: I am the type of person that needs a schedule to follow, a meal plan to duplicate and proven results for me to believe! I am not the type of person that can make up my own program. If you leave it up to me, I will eat the box of cookies for dinner and not even think twice about it. I need direction, to know that if I do X,Y and Z I will get the results just like those people in the infomercial (Who I would swear were paid actors...however now I know some and no they are NOT!) I love that every Beachbody Fitness Program comes with a nutrition guide to help me eat for the workout I am doing! I love that Beachbody has the awesome food storage containers so that I am eating the right amount of food each day. It truly takes the guesswork out of my nutrition. This is afterall the hardest thing to change and Beachbody does a killer job at tackling that with ease!

5. Shakeology...I know what your saying....here she goes again talking to me about this shake...but I really can not get over how amazing it is! It is not a protein shake or a weight loss shake or a temporary fix. Believe me, I was skeptic! I said...what? I am not paying this money to drink food! I had tried a protein shake before, it tasted nasty, I never felt full, it reminded me of drinking sand, and my stomach would hurt. I would have to use 2 or 3 scoops, I paid $30 2x per month, sometimes more to get through the month, Then I would have to add in vitamins, fruits and veggies to make sure I got all teh nutrients the cute guy at GNC told me I needed. I didn't see the value or the investment in my health as necessary. But I decided if I was going to do this, I might as well go all in and try it. And there was a bottom of the bag money back guarantee - so if it tasted disgusting I can return it and get my money back. Much to my surprise I had more energy, I didn't have my mid afternoon slump, I had less cravings for sweets and I was staying on track because it was 1 meal each day I didn't have to think about. It was quick, convenient, easy to grab and go and I was having more success with my nutrition because if I was out and about instead of grabbing fast food I had my shake. If I was running late in the morning instead of a coffee and a bagel at 7-11 it was Shakeology! I was saving myself from all the little things that previously threw me off! Oh and did I mention it tastes AMAZING!!

Plus it was nutrition that I wasn't getting before. I was healthier, I performed better with my workouts and now it's my daily multivitamin. Truly my mindset has changed to a health shake and never a weight loss or protein shake!

6. Lastly Challenge groups are my way to stay accountable. As a coach, I am just as accountable to myself as I am to my challengers. As a coach I stay on track because I know I am leading by example. I know that because I am out here leading the way I get to every single day inspire others to make a change in their lives. I get to PAY IT FORWARD! When I started coaching, 5 months ago, my goal was to help 1 person feel the same way I did when I achieved my results. This is one of my WHY's and driving force to continue leading the way with the very best fitness and nutrition programs I can offer!!!!

So here is the deal! I'm starting a 60 day fitness support and accountability group through my online Facebook private page.
