Easy & Healthy Apple "Donuts"



If you’ve never heard of a healthy apple donut, you are in for a treat today!

With school right around the corner, I was trying to think of some quick and easy treats to have on hand for when my son comes home, or my nieces stop by! And since we had a girls slumber party this weekend, I thought we could try out the recipe and see if they were a hit....


EASY & HEALTHY APPLE DONUTS

INGREDIENTS
2 apples, washed
4-6oz melted chocolate
⅓ cup almond butter or nut-free butter, melted

Toppings:
Colored sprinkles, mini chocolate chips, unsweetened coconut, granola, raisins, ground cinnamon etc.


INSTRUCTIONS

Cut apple slices into ⅓ inch-thick slices. 

Core out the middle. You can use a round small cookie cutter, or an icing tip like we used, apple corer, knife, or melon baller.

Spred nut butter (on non nut butter) on one side of the apple. 


Melt chocolate in a microwave safe bowl for 30 seconds. 

 

Dip both sides of the apple into the chocolate and place on wax or parchment paper. Sprinkles on top - Freezer and enjoy!!! 

OR 

Place apple slices onto wax or parchment paper and let the kids drizzle chocolate, or nut butter over the apple slices and then put on your favorite toppings and enjoy!
